Welcome to McIlvaine Early Childhood Center!
I am thrilled to welcome you and your child to Kindergarten and the Caesar Rodney School District. It is truly an honor for me to provide your child with their first school experience! I know that this school year will prove to be an exciting one as your child learns many new and exciting skills but more importantly develops a love of school and learning that will last them a lifetime! The teachers and staff at McIlvaine have been hard at work all summer preparing to welcome you and your child to their FIRST first day of school!
I began my career in education as a 5th and 6th grade teacher in Capital School District. In 2005 I returned to my alma mater, Caesar Rodney School District, and began teaching second grade at Allen Frear. I then made the transition to school counselor at Frear before moving to McIlvaine in 2009 as the school counselor and then assistant principal. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from University of Delaware and my Master in School Counseling from Wilmington University.
At home, my husband and I are surrounded by three kids! Two of them are McIlvaine graduates and proud Caesar Rodney Riders! Our youngest will follow in his older sisters’ footsteps in just a few short years! As a family we love being outside in our garden and playing on the beach.
At McIlvaine we know the important role parents play in their child’s education. We hope that you will find a way to get involved at McIlvaine by volunteering in your child’s classroom, joining our Alphabet Army, attending one of our many after school activities, or simply reading a book with your child each night. It is important that your child’s experience be both rewarding and memorable so, please, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns about your child and their academic experience.
We look forward to working with your child each and every day!
