Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to McIlvaine Early Childhood Center, Home of the Littlest Riders! Our staff can’t wait for you and your child to enter the doors of our learning community. Your kindergartener is embarking on the start of an exciting educational journey, and we’re glad that you’ve chosen McIlvaine ECC as the place to begin the learning process.

Education is a partnership that involves you, your children, and our staff. We will provide outstanding teachers, a caring and supportive staff, and a safe and fun learning environment for your child. As our partners, we need you to instill in your children the value of education. Some of the best ways to do this are making sure your child is well-rested, arrives each day on time and ready to learn, helping them with homework, and talking with them about ideas and topics that they're studying in school. I also strongly encourage you to read to and with your child everyday. This is one of the best ways to instill their love of reading while building and reinforcing important literacy skills. Twenty minutes of daily reading -- to and with your child -- equals one hundred and twenty two hours of reading skills practiced in one year!

McIlvaine ECC is your school. We want you to feel that you are a welcome and integral part of the learning community. Everyone at our school including teachers, students, families, office staff, paraprofessionals, custodians, and food service workers is continually learning, growing, and working together to enrich the learning environment. Learning together and sharing with each other are two of the most powerful ways to learn. Acting in this way also builds relationships and a sense of community in our school.

Get involved! Time invested with your child(ren) at home and at school pays off in huge dividends. The more you participate, the more you and your child will benefit from school. I strongly encourage you to attend school functions and to volunteer in the classroom or library, share your talents, and chaperone field trips. Please contact your classroom teacher or call the school for more information on ways that you can get involved.
